✢ The Swedish dishcloths are modern, functional art. Most of the designs I stock were designed with and for my company by female artists from across the globe.
THE SWEDISH EARTH-FRIENDLY SPONGE CLOTH is made in Germany out of natural fibers 70% plant-based cellulose pulp and 30% recycled cotton fibers. It has been a Swedish household staple since its invention in 1949 by a Swedish engineer. Due to the nature of the natural fibers, the sponge cloth is 100% compostable. A sponge cloth will replace 15-17 rolls of paper towel, saving cost and reducing overall waste in landfills which aids in saving our planet. Each Swedish sponge cloth easily absorbs 15 times its weight in water (that’s about 3/4 cup liquid)! The wet sponge cloth is soft like a chamois and perfect for wiping all household surfaces including appliances, granite, laminate and glass without streaking, just as it is perfect for drying off fruits and vegetables and wiping your dog’s paws. Because the sponge cloths dry very quickly this helps the cloth resist odors, helping to keep your kitchen fresh and clean. Depending on how the cloth is used and personal choice, the lifespan of each dishcloth varies but is typically good for 200 wash cycles. Once it has reached the end of its life, cut up the cloth and add to your compost heap where it will degrade naturally – from earth back to earth. Always rinse the cloth before first use.
